Tigresses seek batting revival in second Australia ODI

Bangladesh will look to make a stronger statement with the bat when they face Australia in the second women's ODI in Brisbane on Sunday, after a difficult start to their historic tour left them trailing 1-0 in the three-match series.

The visitors were bowled out for 166 in the opening match at Allan Border Field on Friday, struggling to build partnerships against Australia's disciplined attack. Annabel Sutherland claimed four wickets for 30 runs, while Megan Schutt struck early and reached the milestone of 150 wickets in women's ODIs.

Bangladesh's batting offered some resistance but failed to produce the substantial partnership needed to challenge the hosts. Ritu Moni top-scored with 45, while contributions from Nigar Sultana Joty and other middle-order batters could not lift the total to a competitive level.

Australia chased down the target comfortably, reaching 168 for three in 25.4 overs. Phoebe Litchfield led the response with an attacking 77 off 57 balls, helping the home side secure a seven-wicket victory with 146 balls remaining.

The second ODI gives Bangladesh an immediate opportunity to respond, but improving their batting consistency will be central to that effort.

The top order must provide a steadier start, while the middle order needs to convert useful contributions into a more substantial total.

Bangladesh can also take encouragement from the experience of competing against one of the strongest teams in women's cricket on Australian soil.

The tour marks the country's first bilateral women's ODI series in Australia and offers valuable exposure against a formidable attack.

Australia, meanwhile, will aim to maintain their advantage and seal the series before the final match.

The second ODI will be played at Allan Border Field on Sunday, October 11, with the third and final match scheduled for October 14 at the same venue.
