Police, MSC turn BFL into a goal fest

Goals have been raining thick and fast in the Bangladesh Football League this season, and Saturday was no exception as Bangladesh Police FC and Mohammedan Sporting Club served up a combined 14-goal feast.

Police stole the show, surpassing Friday's 7-0 triumph by Bashundhara Kings with an emphatic 8-0 win over Fakirerpool Young Men's Club at their home ground, Gazipur's Shaheed Barkat Stadium.

Leading 3-0 at half-time, Police ran riot after the interval, adding five more goals. Senegalese forward Mohammad Rasul completed a hat-trick, while MS Babul struck twice. Rabbi Hossain Rahul, Arman Faisal Akash and Manik Molla added one apiece.

The result maintained Police's perfect start: three matches, three wins. They have scored 12 goals without conceding once, having previously beaten Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society 1-0 and Chattogram City FC 3-0.

Mohammedan were equally ruthless at Munshiganj's Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, brushing aside Arambagh Krira Sangha 6-0. Fernando Varela's side led 2-0 at the break before turning the screw with four more goals.

Malian striker Souleymane Diabate, back in the black-and-white fold after a season with Abahani, completed a hat-trick. Minhazur Abedin Rakib, Sourav Dewan and Shahriar Emon also found the net.

After three rounds, Police leada the table with nine points. City Club and Fortis FC have seven apiece, with Fortis second on goal difference. Mohammedan sit fourth with six points from two matches, while Kings and Abahani have four each.
