Russia-Ukraine agree to 'energy ceasefire': Trump

WASHINGTON, Oct 11: US President Donald Trump said in a brief statement Sunday that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to halt strikes on each other's energy infrastructure.
"Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine. Both parties have agreed. Do not break it!" he wrote on his Truth Social network, without further details.
"President Putin would like to see a settlement, strongly," Trump said of what the Russian leader told him Friday when the pair spoke on the phone.
Trump criticized the Ukrainian president for not holding an election since Russia first invaded Ukraine in 2022.�" AFP
