Lionel Messi has reflected on his more than two decades with Argentina, describing wearing the national team jersey as his greatest honour. Adidas has released a video featuring previously unseen moments from his farewell.

In the video, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner said every moment in Argentina’s jersey was special. Asked what advice he would give his younger self, Messi said, “Enjoy it. Enjoy everything even more.”

The Inter Miami forward also thanked Argentina for being with him throughout his long international career.

“It is a great honour for me to wear this jersey and represent my country. I lost, I won, but wearing this jersey was the most important thing,” he said.

Messi played his final match for Argentina on October 6, scoring once and assisting two goals in a 3-0 win over Benin at Buenos Aires’ Monumental Stadium. He ended his international career with 126 goals in 208 appearances.
