BARISHAL, Oct 13: Students of Barishal Government Model School and College staged a protest on the campus on Monday, opposing the reopening of the institution’s primary section.
The students went to the principal’s office and urged the authorities not to admit new students to the primary section. They said reopening the section could put further pressure on the institution’s existing academic activities.
Principal Tapan Kumar Saha said admission to the primary section had remained suspended since December last year. The institution had not received any instructions to admit students to the section this year either.
He said a shortage of classrooms was already disrupting academic activities at the college level. Given the current situation, there is no scope to admit new students to the primary section, the principal said.
