The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) staged a modest recovery on Wednesday, gaining 20.5 points after a sharp decline in the preceding sessions, as bargain hunting in recently battered stocks provided some support amid persistent market uncertainty.
The DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, rose 20.5 points to settle at 5,429 points, up from 5,409 points in the previous trading session.
Despite the positive movement in share prices, investor confidence remained fragile amid concerns over weaker corporate earnings, persistent domestic economic challenges and geopolitical uncertainties, which continued to restrain broader market participation, according to BSS report.
Market turnover, meanwhile, plunged to a seven-month low of Taka 410 crore, reflecting the continued cautious stance of investors.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed in negative territory, with its Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) falling 5.2 points and the All Share Price Index (CASPI) declining 6.5 points.
