Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has launched Aviation Security Week 2026 across the country to strengthen airport security, raise awareness and improve preparedness for an upcoming international audit.
The three-day programme is being held from October 13 to 15 at all domestic and international airports in Bangladesh, according to a CAAB statement issued on October 14.
The initiative aims at improving security standards and preparing for the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Universal Security Audit Programme"Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA) audit.
This year’s theme is “Security is Everyone’s Responsibility: See Something, Say Something”, emphasising the collective responsibility of security personnel, passengers, airport employees and other stakeholders in ensuring aviation safety.
Under the programme, awareness campaigns are being conducted to familiarise passengers and airport staff with security regulations and protocols.
Stakeholders are also being encouraged to report suspicious objects, activities and potential security threats to the relevant authorities.
Various exercises and drills are being organised to assess emergency response capabilities, while briefings and educational activities aim to enhance security personnel’s skills and promote best practices.
CAAB Member (Security) Air Commodore Md Asif Iqbal said the initiative seeks to strengthen security awareness and collective responsibility among everyone involved in airport operations.
