Ensure Regular Waste Removal to Make Dhaka Habitable

Dear Sir,

Making Dhaka a clean and habitable city is the responsibility of both the Dhaka North and South City Corporations. Regular street sweeping and waste removal are essential, but household garbage collection also requires proper attention. It is occasionally observed that household waste remains uncollected for three to four days, leaving residents with little room to store it. Within a couple of days, the garbage begins to rot and spread foul odours.

As a result, some residents are compelled to leave their waste on the streets, damaging the urban environment and increasing health risks for pedestrians and commuters. Rotting garbage releases harmful gases that may contribute to asthma and other respiratory diseases. Moreover, the accumulated waste provides breeding grounds for mosquitoes and insects that spread various diseases.

Therefore, I urge the City Corporations to strengthen monitoring and ensure regular household waste collection alongside maintaining the overall cleanliness of Dhaka.
