Sajek Valley reopens for tourists

Sajek Valley one of Rangamati’s major tourist destinations has been reopened to visitors following an assessment of the overall situation in the district.
In an emergency public notice issued on Thursday evening, Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Nazma Ashrafi cancelled the previous order suspending tourist visits to Sajek Valley and announced the reopening of all tourist spots in the area.
Confirming the decision, Deputy Commissioner Nazma Ashrafi said Sajek Valley in Baghaichhari upazila had been temporarily closed from 6:00 PM on October 11 until further notice due to unavoidable circumstances.
She said the decision to reopen the tourist destination was taken after considering the overall situation and finding conditions normal.
With the restriction lifted, tourists will be able to visit Sajek Valley from Friday.
Local people hope the reopening will bring the popular tourist destination back to life and restore momentum to tourism-related businesses.
