490 arrested in 24-hr DMP drive

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 490 people during raids across the capital in the past 24 hours. A total of 42 cases were filed during the same period.

In a press release issued on Sunday, the DMP said the arrests were made in different police station areas across the capital, with various narcotics seized during the operations.

Of the arrested, 39 were from the Ramna division, 52 from Lalbagh, 57 from Wari, 62 from Motijheel, 92 from Tejgaon, 123 from Mirpur, 40 from Gulshan and 25 from Uttara.

During the drives, police also recovered 15 mobile phones, two auto-rickshaws, a private car, a sewing machine, Tk 3,305 in cash and rescued a victim.

Further legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway, the police said.
