Observer Online Report

Three scrap fabric warehouses were gutted in two separate fire incidents in Konabari of Gazipur, causing an estimated loss of Tk 5 million, according to the Fire Service.

According to Fire Service sources, the first fire broke out in the morning at the warehouses owned by Russell Mia and Enamul Haque in the Government Bari Jame Mosque area of Ambag Baghia under Konabari Police Station.

Two units of Konabari Modern Fire Service rushed to the scene and began extinguishing the blaze. Firefighters brought the fire under control after nearly two hours of effort.

The Fire Service initially suspected that an electrical short circuit caused the fire. Goods worth around Tk 3 million were reportedly damaged in the incident.

Meanwhile, another fire broke out at night at a scrap fabric warehouse owned by Rony Mia in the Dis Pukurpaar area of Ambag under Konabari Police Station.

Two Fire Service units went to the scene and brought the blaze under control after around an hour of effort. The damage from the second fire was estimated at Tk 2 million.

Mohammad Saiful Islam, warehouse inspector at Konabari Modern Fire Service, said separate fires had occurred in the Ambag Baghia and Dis Pukurpaar areas of Konabari, destroying goods stored in three scrap fabric warehouses.

He said the preliminary estimate put the total damage at around Tk 5 million.
