Three Bangladeshis who fled a scam compound in Myanmar and took shelter in Thailand are scheduled to return home on Thursday (October 22).
They are expected to arrive in Dhaka at 4:20 PM on a US-Bangla Airlines flight, BS-218.
The returnees are Md Saidur Rahman, Rabiul and Md Sohel Rana.
Anirban Survivor Voice Foundation initiated efforts to bring them back following complaints from the victims and their families. On August 24, the organisation applied to the Wage Earners' Welfare Board under the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment for assistance.
In response, the board directed the Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok to take necessary steps to repatriate eight Bangladeshis staying at a safe house under the referral mechanism of Mae Sot Immigration in Thailand.
Three of them are returning home on Thursday, while legal procedures for the return of the remaining five are underway.
