Small Fittings Big Impacts on Everyday Life

I have been involved in the real estate sector for the past 35 years. During this time, I have supplied electrical and sanitary fittings to different real estate companies and gained experience with products of different qualities and prices.

From my experience, I believe that buyers and developers should not choose sanitary and electrical fittings based on price alone. The quality of these products matters because they affect the durability, safety and maintenance costs of a home. Sanitary fittings and electrical switches are among the most frequently used items in a home. Taps, showers, toilets, flush systems and washbasins ensure personal hygiene, while switches and sockets are essential for using lights, fans and other electrical appliances. Low-quality sanitary products can cause water wastage, leaks and frequent repair needs. Similarly, poor-quality switches and sockets can increase the risk of electrical accidents.

Therefore, when building a house or buying an apartment, it is important to pay attention not only to tiles, paint and interior design but also to the quality, durability, safety and after-sales service of these essential products. Although they may seem like small details, sanitary fittings and electrical switches play a vital role in ensuring everyday comfort, hygiene and safety.

There are differences between locally made and imported products, particularly some low-cost products from China. Some inexpensive fittings made from plastic may not be as durable as products made from stronger materials. However, I do not believe that all Chinese products are of low quality. Their quality depends on the materials used, manufacturing standards and price range.

I have seen that many locally made sanitary fittings, including taps and shower taps, are made of brass. Good-quality brass fittings can last for 20 to 30 years if they are properly installed and maintained. This makes them a good long-term option for homeowners.

However, buyers should not assume that every local product is better or that every imported product is inferior. They should check the materials, finishing, durability and product specifications before making a decision.

Electrical fittings also require careful consideration. Poor-quality electrical products can create safety risks and lead to frequent repairs or replacement. Buyers should choose products that meet appropriate safety standards and ensure that qualified professionals install them.

In my view, real estate developers should give priority to quality, durability and after-sales service when selecting fittings for apartments. The availability of spare parts and replacement products is also important because homeowners may need them in the future.

A cheaper product may appear to save money initially, but frequent repairs and replacement can increase the overall cost. A good-quality product may require a higher initial investment but can provide better value over time.

My advice to homebuyers is to compare local and imported products carefully. They should consider the materials, manufacturing quality, safety, durability and service support rather than making decisions based only on a product's country of origin.

Ultimately, the goal should be to ensure that an apartment remains safe, comfortable and economical to maintain. The cheapest product is not always the best value; quality and durability should guide the decision.
