Rashed alleges Jamaat leader’s secret meeting with Indian spy

Observer Online Report

Prime Minister’s political assistant Rashed Khan has alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar held a secret meeting with a senior Indian intelligence official, releasing a video that he claimed showed the Jamaat delegation leaving the meeting.

Rashed posted the video on his Facebook account on Tuesday evening. However, he did not specify when the video was recorded or identify the people inside the vehicle shown in it.

In the accompanying post, Rashed claimed that Parwar and other members of the Jamaat delegation left the meeting in the vehicle after meeting the Indian intelligence official. He also challenged Parwar to file a defamation case against him if he wished.

Rashed had made the same allegation in a social media post on October 25.

He claimed that Parwar, Jamaat leader ATM Masum and another person met a senior Indian intelligence official at a house in Baridhara, Dhaka, after Maghrib prayers on October 16.

Questioning the alleged meeting, Rashed asked why Jamaat leaders who publicly speak against India would meet an Indian intelligence official in private. He argued that meeting an Indian diplomat was different from meeting a senior intelligence official.

Rashed also called on Jamaat leaders to clarify the matter, saying Parwar should explain the alleged meeting if he believed in ethical politics. Otherwise, he said, the incident could create the perception that Jamaat was involved in a conspiracy against the state.

He further alleged that Jamaat was planning a movement in coordination with the Awami League.

The allegations have not been independently verified.
