BNP acting Secretary General and Prime Minister’s political adviser Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday said that IGP’s statements embarrass the government. He was referring to the IGP’s comment ‘cops will carry out crossfire if government allows’. He added it is a matter of grave concern to hear such remarks from the police chief. He asserted that IGP’s remarks contradict the BNP’s long campaign against enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killings.
He said such comments made by officials in responsible positions to gain cheap publicity or credit could harm the country and embarrass the government.
Rizvi made the comments at the Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal founding anniversary event.
