Rashid Khan scripts history as Afg seal series against Zim

Earlier, Afghanistan faced a massive collapse after being sent in to bat, losing five wickets for just four runs in the powerplay and a sixth in the ninth over.

However, Azmatullah Omarzai and Ijaz Ahmadzai led an extraordinary recovery with a 142-run partnership for the seventh wicket, setting a new world record for the sixth wicket or lower in T20Is.

Omarzai hit his maiden T20I century with 12 sixes and five fours, becoming the fourth Afghan batter to reach three figures in the format. Afghanistan finished on 221 for 7 in 20 overs, making history as the first team to post 200-plus runs after losing four early wickets for under 20 runs.

Chasing a daunting target, Zimbabwe stumbled early, losing five wickets for 85 runs by the halfway mark. Captain Sikandar Raza fought valiantly with his second T20I century, smashing five fours and nine sixes, but Afghanistan eventually secured the victory to take an unassailable lead in the three-match series.
