State Minister for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Dr M A Muhith has said the government plans to recruit 100,000 new health workers, at least 50,000 of whom will be women.
Speaking as the chief guest at the third International Scientific Conference of the Endometriosis-Adenomyosis Society of Bangladesh at a hotel in Dhaka on Friday, he said that the government was giving top priority to structural reforms in the health sector, disease prevention and health promotion in line with its electoral pledges.
He called for developing simple training modules for them, saying their field-level engagement would help raise awareness, identify diseases at an early stage and ensure proper referrals.
Blaming the lack of an effective referral network for overcrowding at major hospitals, he said.
