Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury has urged workers to leave the streets and return to their factories.

Earlier around 11:30AM on Sunday at a briefing, the minister announced that a six-member wage board has been formed to set new wages for garment workers, with Justice Sheikh Ashfaqueur Rahman heading the board

He said the ministry had repeatedly informed stakeholders that the wage board would be announced on Sunday, but a particular group had still brought workers onto the streets.

Ariful Haque said the board would announce the new wage structure as soon as possible.

The minister also suggested that outside forces might be instigating the workers’ protests.
