A Dhaka court on Sunday deferred the charge-framing hearing against former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, his wife and two children in a case filed over alleged illegal wealth accumulation and money laundering.
Judge Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 set November 23 for the next hearing after granting a time petition filed by the defence, whose lawyer could not attend due to dengue and kidney-related illness.
The other accused are Kamal’s wife Lutful Tahmina Khan, son Shafi Moddassir Khan Jyoti and daughter Shafia Tasnim Khan. Jyoti, who is in custody, was produced before the court.
The ACC filed the case against Kamal on October 9, 2024, and submitted a charge sheet against all four accused on December 18, 2025.
According to the ACC, Kamal allegedly acquired assets worth Tk 22.58 crore beyond his known sources of income by abusing his official position. He was also accused of laundering money through transactions totalling Tk 87.46 crore in nine bank accounts to conceal the alleged proceeds of corruption and bribery.
