Observer Online Report

Two more people died with measles symptoms in the 24 hours to 8:00 AM on Sunday, while 68 new cases were confirmed across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During the same period, symptoms appeared in 1,353 more people, and hospitals admitted 1,255 patients with measles-like symptoms.

Since March 15, the total number of deaths from measles and related symptoms has reached 1,254, including 1,149 deaths among patients with symptoms and 105 among confirmed cases, the DGHS said.

The latest deaths were reported in Sylhet and Chattogram divisions.

Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of deaths among patients with symptoms at 511, followed by Sylhet with 202, Chattogram 111, Rajshahi 93, Mymensingh 89, Barishal 68, Khulna 57 and Rangpur 17.

Of the 1,255 patients admitted to hospitals in the past 24 hours, 480 were in Dhaka Division, 264 in Chattogram, 126 each in Sylhet and Barishal, 89 in Khulna, 81 in Mymensingh, 51 in Rangpur and 38 in Rajshahi.

Between March 15 and November 1, a total of 204,783 patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals, of whom 196,183 have recovered and been discharged.

During the same period, 230,013 people developed symptoms, while 23,935 tested positive for measles.

The DGHS has been tracking the figures since March 15. However, as not every patient undergoes testing, the actual number of confirmed cases remains difficult to determine. The figures cover only patients who seek hospital care and are admitted.
