Kuwaiti police have arrested a Bangladeshi national on charges of killing a security guard at a building under construction in Al-Mutlah, Kuwait, according to a report by the state-run Times of Kuwait on Saturday.
The body of the security guard was found on the roof of the under-construction building on Friday (October 30) morning. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Public Security Sector launched a joint operation and arrested the suspect within 24 hours of receiving information about the incident. Police have not disclosed his identity.
Investigators found that the accused had previously worked as a security guard at the building but was dismissed a day before the body was recovered. He reportedly surrendered at the Shark Police Station, taking advantage of an arrest warrant issued over the expiry of his residency visa. Investigators believe he did so to leave Kuwait before being implicated in the murder.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to killing the new security guard who had replaced him following an argument. He allegedly attacked the victim with a wooden object and a knife.
