The High Court has cleared the way for the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) to resume all activities by suspending for three months a Commerce Ministry directive restricting its operations.
A High Court division bench passed the order on Sunday (November 1), following a writ petition filed by REHAB Senior Vice-President Abdur Razzaq challenging the legality of the ministry's October 17 directive.
The directive, issued by the ministry's Trade Organisations-2 section, had barred REHAB from holding activities beyond routine operations, including board meetings, annual general meetings (AGMs), fairs and other programmes.
The writ petition, numbered 10436/2026, was heard by the court, which suspended the directive's effectiveness for three months after hearing both sides, according to a certificate issued by lawyer Kamrul Bin Azad on Sunday.
The suspension allows REHAB to resume its organisational activities without the restrictions imposed by the ministry's letter.
The lawyer's certificate said the formal court order would be communicated to the concerned parties through due procedure.
