Students of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) ended their protest on Monday (November 2) after pulling down the main temporary gate and structures of a trade fair being constructed on the university grounds.
Around 200 students entered the field at 12:00PM and demolished the under-construction stalls and setup using two tractors brought from the university campus, completing the destruction of the main entrance by 1:10PM.
Students have been demonstrating for several days demanding the return of the field, asserting that no commercial events, including trade fairs, should be permitted on campus property.
The protesters demanded that the field be restored exclusively for academic research, sports, and educational activities, while urging the cancellation of any reported plans to relocate the Bangladesh Secretariat to the site.
The latest action follows a series of protests, including an October 27 incident where students halted soil testing equipment and an October 28 drive where temporary trade fair structures were damaged.
On Sunday, students also staged a road blockade at the China-Friendship Conference Center intersection, severely disrupting traffic across surrounding areas in the capital.
