Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has predicted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government will lose power in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, calling on people to prepare for political change in India.
He made the remarks at a protest meeting in Kochi on Saturday (November 7), organised against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, according to India Today.
Dipke said a change of government could come only through elections and called for an independent and impartial electoral system. He also demanded Kumar’s resignation, claiming that free and fair elections could not be ensured under the current system.
“Gyanesh Kumar has to go. If he goes, Narendra Modi will also go,” Dipke said, according to the report.
He accused the government of protecting the Chief Election Commissioner at the expense of the country's youth. He also alleged that the SIR exercise was being used to influence election outcomes and undermine voters' rights.
Referring to his arrest in Delhi alongside two CJP leaders over a protest at Jantar Mantar, Dipke said he would continue carrying the national flag across the country. He compared the Modi government's actions with British colonial rule, alleging that it was restricting citizens' freedoms.
He further claimed that the government was attempting to control people's choices regarding food, marriage, relationships and voting.
The protest in Kochi was part of a campaign against the SIR exercise. Participants demanded its withdrawal and the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner. Police were deployed along the protest route to regulate traffic and prevent road blockades.
Neither the BJP-led government nor the Election Commission had issued an immediate response to Dipke's allegations, according to the report.
