Different law enforcement agencies arrested five people along with various narcotics in separate raids in Gouripur Upazila of Mymensingh District, Lalmohan Upazila of Bhola District and Pirojpur District in two days.

GOURIPUR, MYMENSINGH: The Special Response Battalion (SRB-14) seized 103.5 kg of hemp and arrested two men during a raid at a tin-shed house in Poddarpara Bonik Bari of Moilakandha Union in Gouripur Upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.

According to SRB-14, officers recovered the hemp from six plastic sacks in the presence of witnesses and seized two mobile phones allegedly used in drug transactions. Preliminary allegations suggest the two men jointly possessed the drugs for sale.

The suspects, along with the seized narcotics and mobile phones, were handed over to Gouripur Police Station (PS) for legal action.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the PS Habibur Rahman said police have filed a case and produced the accused before a court.

The suspect, identified as Md Al Amin Farazi, was detained at a house in Char Laxmi area of Kalma Union’s Ward No. 8, acting on a tip-off.

Lalmohan PS OC Md Nazrul Islam Majumder said a case under the Narcotics Control Act has been filed against Farazi. He was sent to court on Sunday morning.
