Arani-Bagatipara road needs urgent repairing work

RAJSHAHI, Aug 13: Many small and big potholes have been created in different places on Arani-Bagatipara road as the repairing work has not been held for long,  causing immense sufferings to the locals.
After a spot visit, it is seen that there is no sign of road in most of the places of ten kilometers from Arani rail-gate at Bagha to the Boral River of Biharkol intersection of Bagatipara upazila.
Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) constructed the road. The locals claimed that law quality materials were used in construction of the road. However, the authority denied it.
Shool teacher Kamrul Hasan Jewel said, the road has begun to disintegrate within few months after its construction. The condition of road is deplorable now for want of repairing.
'We travel on the road with life risk,' he said.
Fazlul Haque, a village doctor at Arani municipal market, said more than one lakh people of Bagha and Baghatipara upazila travel on this road regularly, But it becomes risky for pregnant women and patients to move on.
This connecting road is the best way for communication with Rajshahi and Natore. Farmers have to dispatch their vegetables to the local markets through the road. As the road is not suitable for communication, the transportation cost of the produced agricultural goods and vegetables become high, as a result their profit falls down.
Kalimuddin, a resident of Arani Gochor village, said no re-construction of the road has been noticeable for long. Traveling by a rickshaw or an auto-rickshaw is very risky here which causes waist pain. The condition of the road becomes worst during rainy season.
Bagha Upazila Engineer Maksudur Rahman said the locals have been suffering as the re-construction of Arani-Bagatipara road has not been held for long.
