At least 15 people were injured in a clash between protesters and members of the Chhatra League in Sakhipur upazila of Tangail.

Thousands of students and local residents gathered on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway in the morning, protesting attacks on students and for advocating their nine-point demand.

They blocked the Ashekpur bypass area around 1:30pm on Saturday, causing a halt in traffic flow. A chase and counter-chase took place between the protesting students and BCL men.
Police reportedly fire tear gas to control the situation.

Meanwhile, Tangail District Commissioner Md Kaisarul Islam said that law enforcement officers have been instructed to maintain utmost patience to keep the situation calm.
