Road communication between Moulvibazar and Sreemangal have resumed after 14 hours of disruption caused by a landslide in Lawachara National Park.
Range Officer of Lawachara region, Shahidul Islam confirmed the development, adding," The landslide, triggered by heavy rain, led to collapse of a large tree and bamboo thicket onto the road, blocking the Kamalganj-Sreemangal route at around 2 AM on Tuesday."
Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road as the landslide rendered the route impassable. However, small vehicles like CNG auto-rickshaws and motorcycles were able to navigate the road after some bamboo was cleared in the morning, larger vehicles remained blocked until the afternoon.
All vehicular movement have resumed around 4 PM with the coordinated efforts of the relevant departments, added the forest official.
