Former MP Bodi sent to jail

A Cox's Bazar court on Wednesday sent former Member of Parliament (MP) for Cox's Bazar-4 constituency, Abdur Rahman Bodi, to jail in connection with an attempted murder case.

At around 3:30 PM on Wednesday, Bodi was presented before Cox's Bazar Judicial Magistrate Court, following his arrest on Tuesday. 

The presiding judge, Hamimun Tanzin, then delivered the order to land the accused to jail, according to lawyer Mohammad Shahin.

"Bodi was sent to jail following the court order as the application on five-day remand request for Bodi, which was filed by Teknaf Police Station, could not reach the court on time. However, the judge noted that the hearing would take place once the application is received," said the lawyer.

Abdur Rahman Bodi, former Upazila Chairman Zafar Ahmed, Zafar’s son and former Chairman of Teknaf Sadar Union Parishad Shahjahan, along with 150 others, have been made as accused in an attempted murder case earlier.

Teknaf Police Station officer-in-charge Muhammad Osman Goni confirmed the information, adding," Upon learning that the prime accused, Bodi, was being presented in court, the investigating officer attempted to seek a five-day remand. However, it could not take place as the application did not reach the court on time."
