Elderly man sued over raping teen girl in Bagerhat

A case has been filed against a 65-year-old man at Fakirhat Model Police Station in Bagerhat district reportedly for raping a 16-year-old handicapped girl. 

The victim's mother filed the case late Tuesday night against Ishaq Ali Sheikh, a resident of Paikpara village in the upazila. Following the complaint, police have arrested the elderly man.

According to the case statement, Ishaq Ali lured the girl, who belongs to a day laborer's family, into a nearby betel nut garden on Tuesday evening. Once there, he allegedly forcibly raped her, causing the girl to cry out. Ishaq Ali then fled the scene. The girl returned home in tears and informed her mother about the incident using gestures.

Fakirhat Model Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Ashraful Alam confirmed the incident, adding, "Following the case, police have arrested the accused and the victim has been sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for a medical examination. Further actions will be taken upon receiving the medical report." 

The accused has been presented before the court later, added the OC.
