2 ex-MPs sued in Habiganj murder case

A case was filed on Thursday accusing 410 people over killing a 12-year-old boy during student movement in Baniachong upazila of Habiganj district.

The case lists a total of 160 named people, including former lawmakers Moyez Uddin Sharif, Abdul Majid Khan and the district Jubo League president Abul Kashem Chowdhury, were made accused while the rest 250 were unnamed.

Victim Hasan Mia's father Chhanu Mia filed the murder case with Baniachong Police Station, confirmed the police station's officer-in-charge Mohammad Delwar Hossain. 

However, no one could be made arrested in this connection and efforts are on to arrest the accused, he added.

According to the case statement, a clash broke out between Awami League activists and the protesters in Baniachong Sadar when the then ruling party men attacked the demonstrators on August 5. Nine people including Hasan were killed in firing allegedly by the AL men.
