A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a truck on the Dhaka-Tangail highway at Kalihati upazila of Tangail district on Monday.
The accident occured around 8.30am in Jokarchar area under the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Sajedul Islam, 45, son of Atatullah Fakir, resident of Shahapur area in Pabna's Ishwardi upazila.
Nazmul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Highway East Police Station, confirmed the death.
According to locals, Sajedul was heading towards Ishwardi upazila from Gazipur riding on a motorcycle. On the way, a bus hit his motorbike, casuing him to fell on the highway. At that time, a truck ran him the motorcycle from the behind, leaving him dead on the spo.
Police recovered the body from the spot, said SI Sajedul.
The body will be handed over to the family members after completing legal procedure, added the SI.
