Former whip of the National Parliament Iqbalur Rahim has been made accused in another
murder case filed at
Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station on Sunday.
Faridul Islam, the elder brother of the victim Rabiul Islam Rahul, a student who was shot and killed during the student protest, filed the case with the police station.
The case names 31 individuals, including former Whip Iqbalur Rahim, and includes 300 to 400 unidentified persons as accused.
Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge Farid Hossain confirmed the filling of the case.
According to the case statement, hundreds students from various schools and colleges in Dinajpur joined the anti-discrimination student protest on August 4, similar to those occurring across the country. Rabiul Islam Rahul participated in the protest as well. Around noon, when the protesters reached municipal intersection area and the road in front of Zilla School, supporters of former Whip Iqbalur Rahim, allegedly under his indirect support and incitement, attacked the protesters.
When the attackers fired at the students, Rabiul Islam Rahul was shot in both legs. He was taken to M. Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital in Dinajpur, where he succumbed to his injuries on August 9.
The victim Rabiul Islam Rahul, 17, was the son of Moslem Uddin from Bidurshai Maharajpur village in Fazilpur Union, Dinajpur Sadar Upazila. He was an 11th-grade student at Raniganj Ehia School and College. The medical certificate from M. Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital confirmed that Rabiul died from shotgun wounds.

filed another case against Iqbalur Rahim, accusing him of Rabiul Islam
Rahul’s murder.
