A murder case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Member of Parliament (MP) of Madaripur-2 Shajahan Khan, former MP of Madaripur-3 AFM Bahauddin Nasim, and 89 others in connection with the death of Tawhid Sannamat during the student movement in Madaripur.
The case also includes 500 to 700 unidentified individuals as accused.
Madaripur Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge A.H. Salauddin, confirmed the filing of the case on Monday.
Kamrul Hasan, the Secretary of the district unit of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), filed the case on Sunday night.
According to the case details, on July 19, a clash ensued between the members of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and protesters in front of Youth Development Office in Madaripur town. Tawhid Sannamat, a resident of Suchiarbhanga village in Mostafapur Union of Madaripur Sadar, joined the protest and was allegedly shot dead by BCL members.
Kamrul Hasan, on behalf of JCD, filed the murder case, naming former MPs Shajahan Khan and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, along with several other district and upazila-level leaders of the Awami League, including district Awami League President Sahabuddin Ahmed Molla, General Secretary Kajol Krishna Dey, and Madaripur Mayor Khalid Hossain Yad.
