Two women held with drugs in Sirajganj

Sirajganj RAB-12 official (operations) Md Usman Goni confirmed the information in a press release on Tuesday afternoon.

The arrested are Tanjila, 39, wife of Motaleb Hossain from Nandipur village in Dinajpur's Hakimpur upazila, and Gulshan Ara, 42, wife of Hanif from Fakirpara Dharenda village under the same upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway at Chandaikona Bazaar in Raiganj upazila and arrested the duo red-handed along with 990 pieces of Buprenorphine injections, said the release.

The duo had been smuggling the drugs in several districts across the country for a long time. A case was filed with Raiganj Police Station against them and legal actions will be taken in this regard, added the RAB official.
