A case was filed in Rajshahi against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, and 24 others.
Salauddin Ahmed Shamim Sarkar, son of Rajshahi District Chhatra Dal convener Mahbub Alam filed the case with Bagha Police Station on Monday night, accusing more 30 unidentified individuals.
According to the case statement, Shamim Sarkar was allegedly abducted at gunpoint by Awami League activists from a local shop at Bagha New Bus Stand on May 21, 2023. The attackers, reportedly acting under the orders of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and with the support of former State Minister Shahriar Alam, took Shamim to an unknown location, where he was physically assaulted. After a week of what is described as "dramatic torture," a case was filed against Shamim, and he was sent to Dhaka Court on May 28.
Bagha Police Station officer-in-charge Abu Bakkar Siddique confirmed that the complaint has been recorded as a case. The accused are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
