4 jailed for life in Sirajganj murder case

A Sirajganjcourt on Wednesday sentenced four individuals to life term imprisonment for their connection with killing of a shop worker in 2016.

The court also fined the four Tk 10,000, in default, they will have to suffer more one month imprisonment.

Sirajganj District and Sessions Court judge M Ali Ahmmed delivered the verdict on Wednesday afternoon.

The covicted indviduals are Ismail, Robin, Nahid and Abdul Momin from Mahmudpur colony in Sirajganj municipality. They all went absconding since the case was filed.

The court also accquited one accused from the case due to lack of evidences to prove him guilty.

According to the case statement, the victim and a worker of a shop in Sirajganj municipality, Shamim Sheikh went to Ullapara upazila to withdraw some dues of the store on June 25, 2016 and went missing. Later on next day, his body was recovered from Barhar Dakshinpara area in the upazila.

Following the incident, the victim's father Shamsul Haque filed a case with Ullapara Police Station.

After hearing 14 witnesses and exminning evidences, the court delivered the verdict in the afternoon (August 28).
