Wife strangles husband to death in M'singh

An ill-fated man was strangled to death reportedly by his wife at Dhobaura upazila in Mymensingh district on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Tara Dighirpar area in Balrampur village under the upazila.

Dhobaura Police Station officer-in-charge Chan Mia confirmed the matter, adding that they have arrested the accused Tara Begum.

The deceased Shahidul Islam, 35, was son of Nur Islam and a resident of the same village.

According to locals and police sources, Shahidul got married for the second time with the accused Tara Begum  in Dhaka. Since their marriage, Tara used to visit Shahidul often at his village home where he used to live with his first wife and children. On Wednesday morning, the accused came to the village and locked into an argument with the victim. At one stage, she strangled Shahidul to death following the argument and fled the scene.

OC Chan Mia said being informed about the incident, they sent a message to Mymensingh Kotwali Police Station who arrested the accused while she was trying to flee.

The legal actions will be taken in this regard, added the OC.
