12,000 sued over attacking police station, looting arms in Ctg

Police filed a case against 12,000 unidentified people for carrying out an attack on Doublemooring Police Station in Chattogram, looting arms and torching vehicles on August 5.

Sub-inspector of the police station Md Imam Hossain filed the case as the plaintiff on Tuesday night.

According to the case statement, 10 to 12 thousand miscreants attacked, vandalized and set fire to the police station with indigenous weapons, iron rods and cocktails on the afternoon of August 5 after the fall of Awami League government.

After fearing the attack, policemen ran away from the station in self-defence, the miscreants looted weapons and goods by vandalizing and arson.

Besides, police station registrar, government and private important documents and goods were burnt by miscreants. Many policemen were also injured in this incident.

Doublemooring Police Station officer-in-charge Fazlul Quader Patwari said that a case has been filed against 10,000 to 12,000 anonymous people on the charges of assault and vandalism and theft of weapons the Doublemooring police station.
