Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 3.4 kilograms of Crystal meth (ice) worth Tk 15.20 crore from Jabannagar upazila of Chudanga district on Thursday.
BGB Maheshpur-58 Battalion confirmed the matter in a press release on Thursday afternoon.
According to the press release, based on a secret information, Maheshpur BGB-58 members learned that a huge consignment of ice will be transported to Darshana in a luggage of a passenger bus through Jashore-Darshana route. Being informed, a team from the battalion took position on the road in front of a local market in Jibannagar upazila and intercepted Shapla Paribahan bus.
While searching, the team recovered the drugs from a Khaki color box wrapped in scotch tape. However, the owner of the bus managed to flee the scene, said the notification.
The estimated market value of the seized drugs is Tk 15 cores and 20 lakh.
Legal actions were underway to be taken in this regard, reads the press release.
