Man held with heroin, LSD in Satkhira

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested a man along with two kilograms of Indian heroin, 337 bottles of Phensedyl, and four bottles of Lysergic Acid Dithalamide (LSD) from Satkhira on Sunday.

The arrested is Mohammad Gazi, 43, a resident of Bharukhali village under Satkhira Sadar upazila.

The raid, conducted around 4:30 AM on Sunday, was led by a special team under the direction of Satkhira Battalion BGB-33 Commander, Lt. Col. Md. Ashraful Haque. 

Being tipped-off, BGB came to know that the drugs were being smuggled into Bangladesh through the Ghoshpara area near Border Pillar 2/6-S. When BGB forces intercepted the group of smugglers, most of them fled, but Gazi was apprehended.

Later, two kilograms of Indian heroin, 337 bottles of Phensidyl and four bottles of lysergic acid dithalamide (LSD) were recovered from his possession.

Additionally, a preliminary investigation revealed that Gazi has a several criminal history.

Confirming the matter, Satkhira Battalion BGB-33 Deputy Director Captain Lt. Col. Md. Ashraful Haque said legal proceedings against him under Narcotic Drugs Act are ongoing at Satkhira Sadar Police Station.
