A court in Jhenaidah on Sunday sentenced four individuals to life imprisonment for killing a van driver in 2010.
Jhenidah District and Sessions Judge Court Judge S.M. Saiful Islam delivered the verdict on Sunday afternoon.
The convicted are Ranjit Biswas, Akhtar Hossain, Manjur Alam, and Basir Uddin. Among the convicts, Ranjit Biswas remains at large. The convicted individuals are residents of Arappur in the district town.
According to the case details, Rezaul Sheikh, a van driver from Muraridah village in Jhenaidah, went missing on the night of February 10, 2010, after receiving a phone call and leaving his home. The following morning, his body was found with his throat slit behind Jhenaidah Cadet College.
Later, on February 12, 2010, Rezaul's wife, Anzira Khatun, filed a murder case with Sadar Police Station, naming three suspects and including several unidentified individuals as accused.
Following an investigation, the police submitted a charge sheet against four individuals on December 25, 2014.
After a lengthy judicial process, the court found the four guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
