Ex-army official among 2 stabbed dead in Ctg S Alam Group's power plant

Two security personnel were stabbed to death at SS Power Plant, a coal-fired power plant owned by S Alam Group under Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram, on Monday morning.

The incident happened inside the power plant, located in Ward No 4 of Gondamara union, under the jurisdiction of Banshkhali Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Sarwar Alam, 51, a retired senior warrant officer of the Bangladesh Army and assistant security in-charge of the power plant and Rashed Jawardar, 22, a security guard. Sarwar hailed from Nagarkanda upazila in Faridpur district, and Rashed from Pabsha Police Station area in Rajbari district.

Tofayel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Banshkhali Police Station, confirmed the matter.

Citing locals, the OC said that the two security personnel were attempting to stop thieves during a burglary attempt last night. During the confrontation, the thieves stabbed both men. Critically injured, they were rushed to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead.

Legal action is being taken regarding the incident, the OC added.
