Man beaten to death over land dispute

A man was beaten to death reportedly by his rivals over land dispute at Thakurgaon Sadar upazila on Sunday.

The incident took place in the morning at Chandipur village under Jagannath union of the upazila.
The deceased Tota Mia, 55, was son of late Golam Rasul and a resident of the same village.

According to locals, there was a dispute between the victim's family and his neighbours over a piece of a land. Following the dispute, the rivals Rashid, Aijul, Mokhlesur along with others attacked the victim while he and his son were working in the disputed land. Tota Mia was critically injured and taken to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital where the attending physicians declared him dead.

Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge ABM Wahid Firoz confirmed the death, adding that procedures were underway to take the legal actions.
