Man gets life imprisonment for raping sister-in-law

A Natore court on Monday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for raping his teen sister-in-law in 2021.

Natore Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahim delivered the verdict against Jahedul Islam Jared, 32, of Abdulpur Purbapara area under Lalpur upazila.

The court also fined the convict Tk 50,000.

According to the case statement, Jared made an extra-marital affair with his sister-in-law, 14, luring her with several temptations. On March 15 of 2021, Jared took the teen to his relatives house in Kushtia where he forcibly violated the victim.

Being informed about the incident, the victim's father lodged a rape case following the day.

The investigation officer of the case inspector Hirendranath Pramanik pressed a charge-sheet to the court on May 25 after completing investigation.
