3 to be hanged for killing siblings in Sirajganj

A Sirajganj court on Monday sentenced three individuals to death for killing two siblings in 2018.

Sirajganj District and Sessions Court judge M Ali Ahmmed pronounced the death sentence to Shahidul Islam Saccha, 50, from Kodalia village under Chouhali upazila, Nasir Uddin, 40, and Israfil Hossain, 65, from the same village.

The court also fined the convicts Tk 1,00,000 each.

According to case statement, the convicts attacked the victims--Kawsar Ali and his brother Milton Ali-- over a dispute relating to set up a irrigation system on December 7 of 2018, when the duo was visiting their grandfather's house in Kodalia village. They both were taken to Tangail General Hospital where the physicians refferred them to Dhaka.

Kawsar succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital and Milton died while undergoing treatment.

The victim's mother Hayatun Nesa filed a murder case following the incident.

Later, the court found the three guilty and sentenced them to death.
