A man has been made accused of beating his wife to death at Manda upazila in
Naogaon district on Saturday.
The incident took place on Saturday afternoon at Chouja Uttarpara village under Tetulia union of the upazila.
The victim Nais Parvin, 28, wife of Ekramul Haque and mother of a child, was resided with her husband in the same village.
Following the incident, the accused Ekramul Haque and his brother Abdul Malek went into hiding.
Kafil Uddin Molla, father of the victim, said Parvin and Ekramul have been married for 11 years, but their relationship had been strained for several years due to family disputes. Ekram had physically abused Parvin on multiple occasions.
"As sequel to it, Ekram along with his family members beat my daughter to death. I want exemplary punishment of the involved," alleged the victim's father.
Meanwhile, neighbours claimed that Ekram locked into a fight with Parvin over a trivial matter and beat her mercilessly in the afternoon. Later, Parvin succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital.
Confirming the matter, Manda Police Station officer-in-charge Mojammel Haque Kazi said the body was sent to Naogaon General Hsopital morgue for autopsy and procedures to file a case in this regard is underway.
