Two children drown in Cox's Bazar

Two children drowned while bathing in a pond at Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar district on Monday.

The incident took place around 12 PM at Kaharighona Sikderpara area under Chakria municipality.

The deceased two were Sanjida Hossain, 8, daughter of Nabi Hossain, and Miftahul Jannat, daughter of Jamir Uddin, from the Sikderpara area.

According to locals, the duo along with others went to bathe in the pond while they drowned. Hearing screams from the others, locals rushed there and found them dead.

Chakaria Police Station officer-in-charge Sheikh Mohammad Ali confirmed the deaths, adding that the bodies were handed over to the family.
