Police have recovered the throat-slit body of a man from his rented house at Tetuljhara union in Dhaka's Savar upazila on Monday.
However, a woman named Priya Akter, 22, has been detained in connection with the murder of Ripon Kazi Sardar, 38. Savar Model Police Station sub-inspector Jahurul Islam confirmed the matter, adding that following reports from the locals, the body was discovered early Monday from his rented house at Harindhara area in the upazila.
It was known that Ripon was a resident of Sonakhola village in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur district and son of Habibur Rahman. Meanwhile, Priya, the detained woman, is from Maijdi upazila in Noakhali district. Both the victim and Priya Akter were living in a rented house in Harindhara, Savar.
SI Jahurul Islam stated that the initial investigation suggests that Ripon was killed in a premeditated attack.
"Priya Akter's husband has been on the run since the murder took place. The investigation is ongoing to uncover further details," added the police official.
