Youth to be hanged for killing woman, daughter in N'ganj

A Narayanganj court on Sunday sentenced a youth to death for killing a woman and her pregnant daughter at Nitaiganj in the city in 2022.

Narayanganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Court judge Umme Saraban Tahura delivered the verdict against Al Zubayer Swapnil, 28, from the city's Paikpara area, and fined him Tk 1 lakh.

According to the case statement, Swapnil hacked the victims Ruma Chakrabarty, 46, and her pregnant daughter Ritu Chakrabarty, 22, to death at Nitaiganj Dalpotti area while they tried to stop the convict from robbing them. 
Later, police arrested Swapnil red-handed with the used sharp weapon in the spot.

Confirming the matter, additional public prosecutor of the court Abdur Rahim said that the court delivered the verdict after hearing 22 witnesses and examining the chargesheet filed by the investigation officer SI AHM Kamruzzaman Faruque.
